Excerpt 1. A system for providing efficient access to patient data at a medical facility, the system comprising:
a self-service kiosk including an input device operable to input data from a user, a processor and a display device for visually providing data to a user; and
a server in communication with the processor and operable to store data and selectively access data from at least one external database,
wherein relevant data with respect to a patient is downloaded from one or more of the external databases via the server and provided to the user via the kiosk.

A method for integrating a kiosk system with a healthcare information system, said method comprising:
generating a query for at least one of information and a service;
forming a message including the query using a Web service;
communicating the message between the kiosk system and the healthcare information system using the Web service; and
returning a result based on the message.

For example, the prior art's "selectively access data from at least one external database" is broader than the present application's "query using a web service"; using a web service is one means to gain access to a database / information system (the prior art's "database" is also more general than the present application's "healthcare information system").
