DISCUSSION

Not to mention its efficiency, I think this patent's patentability is questionable. Although it is worded as if it's doing a different thing, regular log-in and this patent follows exact same path but just different outcomes. By slightly fixing a paragraph from the patent application, we can describe method for regular log-in: "Upon receipt of the user ID and password, the registration server generates a digest from the received user ID and password. The registration server, then, compares the generated digest with the digest stored on the registration server for the existing address in order to determine whether the user submitted a valid user ID and password. If the user ID and password are valid" the authentication server authorizes access to the email. (instead of "the registration server sets the password for the existing email account of the user as the password for the new email account").Seo Kyung Kim (about 2 years ago)
I agree with all the comments below about this patent's inefficiency. The system designed in this patent application takes in two inputs, user ID and password, and outputs a password in order to associate with the new email being registered, but since both inputs and outputs are known from the beginning, there's no need for the system. It seems to me that this claimed application is not entirely pointless in that it helps people reduce the burden when they have to remember distinct passwords for one account. When users want several IDs for one account, they may find using the same password for all IDs desirable. This could be an option when a user registers multiple accounts, he/she may want to use this technology to set the passwords for all accounts the same. PEER TO PATENT ACTIVITY
