I do understand that the security is not the primary focus of this application. However, as I read through how security system is enhanced throughout this application, it seems that security system here is a little less novel and fragile. Most of the security here is done by the user merely confirming his/her personal information, and as I mentioned - one, this is a highly common security method, and two, since IMO SMS does generally have issues, as Isabella mentioned, I feel that security enhancement needs to be paid more attention.3

This patent provides a new way for doing transactions via mobile phones using SMS service (and as Isbaella said, this is already put in use in other countries), but it seems as if mobile banking and purchasing items using apps on smart phones are much better ways to perform retail transactions instead of having a third party sending messages and confirming. It does slow down the transaction by including someone who is not necessary.2

In addition, sms and emails may not be the best channels to confirm a transaction because users take time to reply to them and thus increasing the transaction time.1

With regards to the payment service, it sounds like the one that has been done in many countries in the form Premium SMS/USSD based transactional payments. IMO sms generally has issues with security and increasingly getting phased out by WAP internet payment services.0 days left
