Isn't this system and method not exactly how an online auction would work? Or is it, not in effect an online auction where, a "designated" shipping vendor in relation to his real-time-provided (or fetched from the database) price would be selected and a label of the same be prepared?James Feig (about 4 years ago)
This would be a bad patent, its essentially transposing what sites like Expedia does for plane tickets and hotel reservations. At a lower level it duplicates how many mashup/web 2.0 site work. Which leaves you with a service that compares prices of shipping, which is in itself not patentable.James House (about 4 years ago)
I'm curious how strong "prior art" needs to be? I have knowledge of a very similar system that works in real time to get shipping option prices from multiple (distributed) product vendors based on shipping specifications, but the "quote" comes back from the product vendor, not from the shipping vendor that they will in turn use. (though the product vendor will typically have queried the shipping vendor behind the scenes).PEER TO PATENT ACTIVITY
