The reference describes a drag-and-drop functionality in a graphical user interface environment. As a file is dragged and dropped onto a set of folders using an explorer-like interface, the system automatically determines into which folder the file should be placed. If the folder does not already exist, then it is automatically created.

This reference describes the marking up of all possible drop locations for a device image upon selection of the displayed device image on a user interface. Note that this reference does not mention the proximity feature claimed in '226. Also, the marking up of drop locations happens in response to the selection of a device image and not necessarily in response to dragging of the device image.

When the user further moves the dragged icon towards one particular target drop icon, the target drop icon is highlighted so athat the user can easily drop the dragged icon in the target drop icon.

The patent discloses a system and method for automatically presenting default-drop target icons displayed within a data processing system. On dragging an icon, default-drop target icons are identified and displayed near to the dragged icon to facilitate dropping of the selected icon.
